Description

DOLLMAKER is a 3D printing resin created entirely with ball-jointed dolls in mind, and the artists behind them.
In collaboration with Etellan, we wanted to create a resin that wasn't just 'good enough' for BJD, but was perfect for it.
We tried to improve on many aspects of the final doll you get, while also making the process easier and more enjoyable.

👱🏻♀️ Looks like a doll

It's just nice to look at.
DOLLMAKER has a porcelain smooth surface finish, which gives dolls a clean, delicate look, and masks layer lines.
It comes in a very light skin colour that can be used as is, or can be dyed easily for those who prefer.

🤚🏻 Feels like a doll

It is hard to describe why, but some materials just feel nicer in your hand than others.
That's what we wanted from DOLLMAKER too, we didn't want it to feel like average 3D printing plastic.

🦵🏻 No scratching or powdering at joints

A common difficulty with 3D printed BJD is that joint areas get scratched up and powder as they rub together.
We made DOLLMAKER with an anti-scratch formula, so dolls can stay smooth and neat, as intended.
It is not too hard, and not too soft. Smooth, but not slick. It has a weight that is satisfying to hold.

👵🏻 Stands the test of time

DOLLMAKER prints are durable, resistant to discolouration, and can easily withstand the common pains a doll might experience.
That includes stringing, posing, accidental falls, or even a dreaded niece coming to town.

🧽 Easy to sand

Where many resins emit a lot of dust when sanded, DOLLMAKER sands easily and cleanly.
But make sure to wear a respirator, even if the dust is not obvious. Tiny resin particles are not good for lungs.

⚙️ Easy to fit parts together

We wanted pieces to fit together easily, without you having to calibrate manually for shrinkage or warping.
DOLLMAKER is also just a tiny bit flexible, to make fitting easier.

🎨 Easy to colour

We wanted DOLLMAKER to resemble a very light skin colour instead of being pure white, so hobbyists could just use it as it is if they want to.
But the colour is light enough that it can be changed to pretty much any other with just a small amount of pigment.

Safe starting settings// conservative values

Start safe. Dial-in from here.

These are the floor. They'll print on almost any LCD machine on day one. Run our included exposure test, then shave down normal exposure in 0.1 s steps until the thinnest feature starts to fail — that's your real floor.

One safe profile — tune from here

Layer height 0.05 mm
Bottom layers 5
Normal exposure 2.5 s
Bottom exposure 30 s
Lift distance 6 mm
Rest before lift 0.5 s
Wash (water) 5 min
Post-cure (UV) 3–4 min
* Validated across common LCD printers. Your mileage will vary with LED age, ambient temperature, and cosmic alignment. Always run a validation cone after a settings change.
What makes it Wargamer
  • Minis that feel professional
Closer to store-bought than 3D print. Support marks scrape off like sprue.
  • Flawlessly sharp
Brings out tiny details. Can print crisper than injection-moulded with a good machine.
  • Washes in water or IPA
Water-washable with no compromise. IPA still works for pros and heavy users.
  • Flexible & durable
Won't shatter on a table drop — keeps the bend and survives the bring-and-battle.
  • Built with FauxHammer
Designed for one job: authentic, long-lasting miniatures. Not prototyping, not engineering.
  • OnTableTop nominee
Best Gaming Accessory Nominee 2023. Colour and light-refraction close to tabletop plastic.

Perfect for a beginner who's also a seasoned doll collector

A very beginner-friendly resin! I'm a SUPER newbie when it comes to resin printing, I've done my very first print using this resin, so this is by no means an expert's review. However, as a complete resin-beginner, my first experience couldn't have been any better. I printed one of my own BJD heads, and not only did it come out super smooth, if I didn't print it myself, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between my print and a cast head. It's just like a proper BJD head, the color, the feel to the touch, the weight, I'm amazed by it. While I can't compare it to other printer resins, I'm a 100% satisfied with my decision to go with DOLLMAKER as my first ever resin. No regrets whatsoever. I'll definitely come back for more, as I have a lot more heads to print.

Answers// questions we actually get asked

The fine print, big.

Can I really wash this with plain tap water?

Yes. Wargamer is a true water-washable formula — no bucket of IPA needed. 5 minutes in warm water handles a full plate. For heavy studio use we still recommend IPA because it dries faster and lets you reuse the bath.

These are the 'safe' starting settings — how do I tune them?

The values above are conservative. They print on almost every 8K LCD. To dial-in for your printer: run our included exposure test print, note the thinnest column that holds, and subtract 0.1 s from normal exposure until it starts to fail. That's your floor.

What makes Wargamer different from Dollmaker?

Same chassis, different tune. Wargamer is biased toward edge hardness and a satin sheen for tabletop minis. Dollmaker is softer, matte, and safer for skin-contact BJD parts.

Do you ship outside the EU?

EU-wide from Gdynia in 3–10 days. For the US/UK, please order through yesthats3dprinted.com — same formula, local warehouse.
